My name is Eunice Keziah and I would like to share my experience at RU Neema Hospital with you. I got pregnant at the age of 18, while I was attending university. I was very stressed when I found out because I didn't know what was going to happen to me. One of my teachers introduced me the program of the Comboni Sisters "Pro Life", born to protect motherhood in the slums. Thanks to their advice, I arrived at RU Neema Hospital, where I started being followed as a patient.
When my pregnancy was in its sixth month, I woke up in the middle of the night with unbearable pain. I still did not know that my pains were due to the work I did during the day. I decided to go straight to RU Neema Hospital for a check-up, thinking it was nothing serious. I was shocked when the nurse, examining me, told me that the birth was imminent even though I was still 6 months old.
Around 9 am on July 17th this year I gave birth to a little girl born before term, which weighed only 1,2 kg and therefore had to be placed inside an incubator for an unspecified period of time. I haven't slept for many nights thinking my daughter was hitched to a car and that it breathed and was fed only thanks to tubes.
Eventually it remained in the incubator for more than two months. But I was fine and when I was discharged my baby weighed just over 1,75 kg.
The doctors were tough but friendly and the nurses gave me a lot of advice and encouraged me to keep going. The two months my daughter and I were in this hospital were precious to her, that she now weighs 3.3Kgs and is a healthy and strong baby. I am grateful and thank God for introducing me to this wonderful hospital.
Heartfelt thanks to RU Neema Hospital
